A known health benefit provided by seal oil is prevention of heart and cardiovascular disease. Seal oil omega 3 products are made from harp seal oil. Harp seal is a marine mammal found abundantly in the ice-cold waters. Seal oil products are already popular in Asia, and have a growing market in North America.

In the 1970s, Danish scientists discovered that, Greenland Eskimos who consume a lot of seal meat have an extremely low risk of cardiac death, heart attack, coronary heart disease and cancer when compared to Danish people.

According to scientific studies, several health benefits have been associated with Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (Omega 3 PUFA). In particular, beneficial effects have been described in relation to coronary heart disease. Studies have indicated that Omega 3 can reduce the risk of cardiac arrest, by up to 70%, and a diet rich in Omega 3 can reduce chances of a second fatal heart attack by up to 30%. Because Omega 3 makes the walls of the blood vessel soft, thus reducing blood vessel blockages, which are often the cause of heart attacks.

Seal oil contains long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids. Researchers discovered that seal oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids including docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).

Seal oil and fish oil both contain enough Omega 3 fatty acid that it can help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, but seal oil is by far better than fish oil for supplying DPA. DPA is abundant in Omega 3 Seal Oil. Seal Oil can supply up to ten times more DPA than fish oils, which is needed to prevent heart attacks. Additionally, seal oil offers less Omega 6 fatty acid than either fish or flax seed oils. This means it is better for restoring the balance between Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.
