Middle ear infection (otitis media) is an infection of the inner ear canal. It is most common in infants and young children, usually as a complication from upper respiratory infections, such as a common cold, flu, sinusitis, or sore throat.
The symptoms of middle ear infection include: ear pain, itch and fever. Infants will have the symptoms: irritability, sleeping difficulty, listlessness, pulling at the ears (often rub or pull their ears).
When you child suffers from middle ear infection, you should take your child to a doctor. The following natural remedies may provide relief from the middle ear infection:
1. Putting a few drops of hot olive oil in the infected ear. This will reduce the earache.
2. Putting a few drops of garlic juice inside the affected ear before going to bed.
3. Putting a few drops of holy basil leave juice into the ear while lying down.
4. Putting a few drops of chamomile flower juice into the ear.
5. Placing a hot bag of salt against the ear. Warm a handful of salt in a pan. Place the warm salt in a sock, and put this sock under the affected ear.
