Oyster is used to treat lymphatic diseases, nodules, tumors, lumps and M. Scrofulaceum in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. Oyster has effects of detumescence, and is used to soften hard lumps, dispel nodes, dissolve internal masses and treat scrofula and subcutaneous nodule.

According to traditional Chinese medical theory, hard nodules on the side of the neck, breasts, or axillae, and hard lumps in abdomen and other regions of body, are caused by an imbalance of Qi and Blood. When disorders in distribution and excretion of fluids and Qi occur, the pathways of blood, fluid and Qi are blocked, causing accumulation of blood, fluid and Qi in certain regions of the body.
