Cooling Tea is beneficial for relieving heat-stroke, heat rash (miliaria) and summer boils. Cooling Tea is very popular in south China as a summer remedy for reducing heat and cooling down the body in hot weather.
Cooling tea contains cooling, detoxifying (anti-inflammatory) and diuretic herbs, thus it has effects to reduce the heat, infections and humidity in the body.
There are a variety of formulas of cooling tea. The following is a recipe.
Ingredients
– Honeysuckle flower 10g
– Dandelion 10g
– Plantain (Plantago) 10g
– Chrysanthemum flower (or Chamomile flower) 6g
– Mint 3g
– Licorice 10g
– Prunella 10g
– Mulberry leaf 10g
– Lotus leaf 10g
– Houttuynia 10g
– Orange peel 12g
Directions
– Make a decoction, drink it twice a day.
– For fresh herbs, use 3 times the amount of the above dosage.
– For making a home-made cooling tea, you can combine whatever you have in your kitchen and backyard, for example: honeysuckle, dandelion, plantain (plantago), chamomile, mint, orange peel, etc.
Please note, if you have weakness and coldness in your digestive system, you should not consume the cooling tea due to its strong cooling properties.
