Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD). The following seven natural remedies can be used for gonorrhea: dandelion, soursop (guyabano), mangosteen, patrinia, Long Dan Xie Gan Tang, acacia and guduchi.
Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD). According to the report of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every year, more than 700,000 people in the United States get new gonorrhea infections. Gonorrhea is the second most common bacterial sexually transmitted disease after chlamydia in the US.
There are the highest rates of gonorrhea infections among sexually active teenagers and young adults. According to a report in the United Kingdom in 2005, 196 per 100,000 males 20 to 24 years old, and 133 per 100,000 females 16 to 19 years old were diagnosed gonorrhea.
Causes and Symptoms of Gonorrhea
Gonorrhea is caused by the bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The infection can be spread by any type of sex. People who have sexual contact with a person infected with gonorrhea may get infected. The bacteria grow in warm, moist urinary tract and reproductive tract, includes the fallopian tubes, uterus, and cervix.
The bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae can be spread by contact with the mouth, vagina, penis, or anus. There is a great risk if you have multiple sexual partners, or have sexual contact with a person who has a past history of any sexually transmitted infection, or do not use a condom during sex.
A person infected gonorrhea usually has the symptoms of urination difficulty, such as burning sensation and pain while urinating, frequent or urgent urination.
A man with gonorrhea may have red or swollen penis, white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis, tender or swollen testicles.
A woman infected with gonorrhea may have vaginal discharge, severe pain in lower abdomen.
Some people may also suffer sore throat, eye disease, fever, joint pain, or skin rash if the infection spreads to the bloodstream.
Gonorrhea Treatment and Remedies
Gonorrhea should be treated as early as possible before it spreads to the bloodstream. The infection can be cured with antibiotics. You should visit your doctor if you feel something wrong after having sex with someone. Since there are many serious complications that may be caused by gonorrhea, it is best to seek medical consult. Your doctor will determine the best and most up-to-date treatment. You may need to receive the hepatitis B vaccine and the HPV vaccine.
However, there are some natural remedies that may help relieve symptoms of gonorrhea. The following are some natural remedies for gonorrhea:
1. Dandelion
Dandelion (Taraxacum) is a common weed that you can find in a backyard or roadside. Dandelion has diuretic and anti-inflammatory effects. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is often used to treat urinary tract infections. A dandelion decoction can be used to wash the affected area, and can also be taken orally.
2. Soursop (guyabano)
Soursop (guyabano) is the fruit of a broadleaf, flowering, evergreen tree native to America. The fruit is rich in carbohydrates, particularly fructose, and also contains significant amounts of vitamin C, vitamin B1 and B2. It is said that drinking the juice of the fruit can help cure urethritis.
3. Mangosteen
Mangosteen is the fruit of a tropical evergreen tree native to Indonesia. Mangosteen has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Traditionally, the rind of fruit is used to treat skin infections, dysentery or urinary tract infections. It is said that a decoction of the rind of fruit can be used to help relieve the symptoms of gonorrhea.
4. Patrinia
Patrinia is a herb in the valerian family. It is native to China. Patrinia has anti-inflammatory properties. Here is a Chinese folk remedy for treating gonorrhea:
– Patrinia 100g
– Water 2 cups
– Boil and simmer for 30 minutes
– Strain and let cool
– Use half of the decoction to wash the affected area
– Twice a day
5. Long Dan Xie Gan Tang
Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (Long Dan Xie Wan) is a Chinese classic formula that is used by Chinese doctors to help treat gonorrhea. This herbal formula is often used to treat bacterial infections in urinary tract and vagina area, jaundice, hepatitis, middle ear infection, gall bladder stones, conjunctivitis, etc. The formula contains the following herbs:
– Long dan cao
– Huang qin
– Shan zhi zi
– Ze xie
– Mu tong
– Che qian zi
– Chai hu
– Gan cao
– Sheng di
6. Acacia
Acacia is known as thorntree. The leaves and the gum derived from the acacia tree is used for gastrointestinal and urinary tracts diseases in Ayurvedic medicine.
7. Guduchi
Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is an herb commonly seen in the tropical areas of India. The herb has astringent, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. In Ayurvedic medicine, guduchi is used to treat the vata imbalance caused by gonorrhea.
Warnings
When treating gonorrhea, you should avoid spicy foods, alcohol and be mindful of your sexual activities.
Before using any natural, herbal or home remedies for gonorrhea, you should consult your doctor. A remedy should not take the place of the antibiotic medications prescribed by your doctor.
